Dr.Chitradurga Garudachar Narasimhan (Dr.C G N) is basically from the fort town of Karnataka where he had his intermediate college education. He blended tradition with modernity in his practice.

As a gesture of obeisance, he donated a statue of Maharshi Sushrutha to his alma mater, MMC in 2023.
As a lover of Carnatic Music, and as the President of the Ganabharathi Music Sabha, Mysuru, he was responsible for the all-round development of the institution, which was very perceptible.

Early Struggles, Unbreakable Spirit
From Adversity to Achievement – The Making of a Surgeon
Dr. CGN’s path to medicine was not easy. Coming from a remote town of Chitradurga, where he completed his schooling and collegiate education, joined MMC in 1957. Just at the age of 18 during his first year of MBBS he lost his father and found himself battling financial hardship during his further course. Belonging to a community not eligible for government scholarships, he relied on limited aid and the kindness of a professor who granted him fee-free studentship for all the five years.
He swam against the current for five and a half years — not just to graduate, but to excel.
After completing his MBBS in 1963, he did his Housemanship at Victoria Hospital and later served for a few at Neyveli Lignite Corporation in Tamil Nadu, managing over 100 patients a day with calm confidence.
